The BC 8s
The BC 8s Special Interest Group (SIG) was created in or around 2002 by Derek Pinton, owner of a Laguna Green 850Ci. Shortly after the purchase of my first E31, total membership rose from 6 to 7. Most of the BC 8s events at the time were part of the BMWCCA BC local car club with very few E31 specific events. The E31s were somewhat rare (and expensive) at the time, so membership remained stable around the 7 car number. Then came the influx of the Japanese spec 850s, arriving in virtual waves from across the pond starting in 2006. Around that time, Derek sold his 850 and left the group but the BC 8s continued on, adding new E31s until today where our active roster totals some 67 owners.

I have been a member of the BMW Car Club of America since 1997, and currently the BMWCCA E31 Chapter president. Originally purchased my 1991 8 Series in July, 2011- from the original owner. This car was purchased new from Auto West BMW.
My first BMW was a second hand 1974 BMW 2002Tii purchased in the early ‘80’s; looking back, I should never have let that one go! Since then, I have owned a lot of BMWs. Parked in my garage today you will find these BMWs: the 1991 850i, a 2003 BMW 330Ci Convertible, a 2003 BMW 530iA M-Sport, a 2003 540iA M-Sport/Individual and a 2014 BMW 435i M-Sport.

Attended: 2013 10th Anniversary 8-Fest Garberville, California; Legends of the Autobahn Pebble Beach/Monterey 2014 and again for BMW’s 100th Anniversary in 2016 and the 2018 Legends of the Autobahn; Munich visit in 2017- toured the BMW Museum, BMW Welt, BMW Classic and the Dingolfing BMW plant where the E31 was originally produced.
